Happy New Year and Welcome to 2022,

Well the PSMLA closed out 2021 with a bang by hosting an amazing Holiday Event and Auction.  The Venue, Energy and evening was truly magical, memorable and amazing.   It was a perfect example of why Organizations like Puget Sound Mortgage Lenders Association exist.  Our charity for the evening was both Charlie’s Dinosaur and Toys for Tots.  Our attendee’s not only had a blast they bid and opened their wallets and gave and we raised roughly $24,000 for charity.  What a great example of an organization and its members giving to back the community.  Great job team!

My name is Robert Lipston and I was sworn in as the President of the PSMLA at our board meeting on January 25th.  It is a true honor and privilege to serve as the 36th President of this amazing organization and to follow in the footsteps of all the distinguished peers who have served as President and on the board before me.  I feel so grateful and honored to receive the Leadership baton from Mr. Dave Thorsen.  Dave and this board have led this organization the last two years through unprecedented times and like we all know Dave has been an amazing leader of this organization and has so many years of dedication to the association and I feel very fortunate to have him as a leader and the Immediate Past President in the Board Room next year. I would also like to thank our Board of Directors who have give this organization their time and energy to help it flourish.  Thank you Dave Thorsen, Terrie Bethel, Shannon Fry, Taylor Butler, Ryan Steuber, Sara Monzo and Traci Frazier for your commitment and care of this organization.

A little about myself I have been on the board of the PSMLA for the past few years and previous to this I served two terms as the President of the Washington Mortgage Bankers Association. I worked my way through that board over the past 10 years and have been involved traveling the Pacific Northwest and being involved with the Mortgage Bankers, Lenders and Brokers.  I take this industry and protecting the voice of our members very seriously and speak regularly and meet with elected officials and lobbyists to make sure we have a vote and a voice on the hill.  I have been in this amazing industry since 1987.  Personally I love spending time with my 3 children 16, 19 and 29 on the water Boating, playing with my Classic Cars, Convertibles and Dirt Bikes.

Our New Board was sworn in at our board meeting on January 25th and they are:

  • Robert Lipston – President
  • Dave Thorsen – Past President
  • Mark Meath – President Elect
  • Taylor Butler – Treasurer
  • Shannon Fry – Secretary
  • Terrie Bethel – Director
  • Brian Bentley – Director
  • Dennis Sharp – Director
  • Sara Monzo – Social Media

We closed 2021 with a few face to face in person events and we are going to keep this momentum going as long as we are allowed.   We were hosting our dinner meetings at the EQC which is closed temporarily so we are using the Oakbrook Country Club to host our 2022 events until further notice.

We are extremely excited to kick off 2022 with two great panels.   I always say the biggest investment you can make is in yourself.   Both of these events should send you home with tons of tips, tricks and ideas to deploy in your business for this year.

February 10th – Oakbrook Country Club –  Leadership Panel –  Our panelists will be sharing what is ahead and what you should know for 2022.   We have Ryan Hills with Movement Mortgage and the RESource, Donn Costa with 1st Security Bank, Kim Wolcott with Academy Mortgage and Kelly Cruz with Flagstar Bank.

March 10th – Oakbrook Country Club – Loan Officer Panel –  Our Panelists will be sharing their disciplines and ideas that have made them so successful and amongst the top performers in the South Sound and state.  So far we have Kyle Rohrbaugh – RPM Mortgage, Jaimie Garrett – Caliber Home Loans, Per Moerkeseth – Homestreet Bank, Kim Stallcop – 1st Security Bank.

April14th – Venue TBD – Spring home buying Season – Leading Real Estate Professionals discussing the Pierce County Housing market and the season ahead.

Our goal at the Puget Sound Mortgage Lenders is to always bring timely and relevant speakers, topics and events to our membership.

I look forward to seeing everyone this year at our dinner meetings, events and get togethers.

I will leave you with two takeaways I believe in.   Show up and vote with your two feet and be present at our events and use your voice it is the most powerful tool you have.

Have a great January and here is to 2022!
